Leaving Colorado

Heading East

Triple 'J' RV Park

Our Spot

8:00 pm Looking West

Boy did we have a very unsettling drive today from Seibert, Colorado to Russell, Kansas. It started last night with a tornado warning at our campground in Colorado and then it started raining hard around 2:00am this morning. When we left today, the rain was coming down and the wind was blowing 30-40 mph. The next four hours was constant rain and wind. We listened to the radio all the way and were constantly being told of tornado warnings and flooding along our route. We finally made it to Russell, Kansas around 4:30. The wind is still blowing at 30-40 mph with stronger gusts. We have never been in wind this strong before.

As we are parked for the night at the Triple 'J' RV Park, we are watching the weather channel for updates. Currently there is a strong storm cell east of us over Wichita with golf ball size hail and winds 60-70 mph. There is also a storm cell to the west of us. The storms are heading northwest so we might be safe. If we get golf ball size hail with this kind of wind then we will be in big trouble. There is a storm shelter at this RV park. God grant us safe passage through this scary part of our journey.

Tomorrow we are off to Topeka.
