Lucy and Helen's Adventures! travel blog

Last night we had a lesson in the infamous punta dancing- lots of hip shaking! It was great fun, the guy who taught it to us was MASSIVE but damn he could swing them hips! If you get the chance check out the song `slow tornado` by lova boy- thats an example of punta and it`s so popular here right now!

Today Dr G was sick, so I went to A and E, which was interesting. The first patient was a three year old boy. I was totally put of pediatrics because he was screaming the house down and the poor thing was being pricked like a pin cushion when they were trying to put an IV in. Then he needed a naso-gastro tube and he was vomiting out his nose down the tube and coughing up blood- it was horrible! Saying that though, another wee kid came in who needed stitches above his lip and I helped calm him and hold his head still, and he was an angel, so maybe I`m not put off it for life! There were other cool cases, but I was often just taking vitals and that sort of thing.

Tomorrow`s my last day at the clinic (can`t believe it`s almost been two weeks here in San Ignacio!) We`re currently addicted to chocobananas (frozen chocolate dipped bananas on Popsicle sticks- pure genius- especially coz it`s between 28-31oC every day!) Tomorrow night we`re hitting the town hard for Aubrey`s last night and on Saturday we`re going to some ancient Mayan ruins, then Sunday off to Peru via Miami (woop!)
