| So we've just had the most fun weekend! On Saturday we went to the ATM (Actun Tunichil Muknal) Cave which was a massive ancient Mayan cave. We had a wee 'hike' to the cave where we were told grim tales of sacrifices and so forth (egh!)Then we had to swim to get into the cave and for the next 3 hours we clambered, swam and bouldered our way 1.5km into the cave- it was insane! At one point we all turned off our torches and were launched into complete darkness (freaky!) We had to take off our shoes and just climb in our socks up to the 'bleeding pots' and crystallized skeletons. There was a full skeleton of a girl my age called the cystal princess. Then on Saturday night for Martin's graduation (homestay brother) there was a party at our house. It was great fun- I had my first panty ripper (coconut rum and pineapple juice) and we danced (and sweated) the night away! On Sunday we went to a place called mountain pine ridge which had another cave, and pools that we could swim in and a massive waterfall and big rocks we could jump off (what larks!) So I'm still recovering- jokes! Back at the hospital today - in the old routine of it all now! Tonight we're going to learn garfana drumming, should be good! |
