On the way to the Mediterranean Sea we made a stop at Aix-en-Provence. A beautiful city, but definitely a busy and bustling city. Jim and I decided to spend the time we had here exploring the old town area; it's streets and fountains and of course a cafe. Very nice and beautiful.

When we originally signed up for this trip we were to spend the last three nights in Monaco. A few days before we left St. Louis, we found out that the tour company was exercising the fine print and changed the itenary. Instead of Monaco our last three nights would be in Juan les Pain not Monaco. It just so happens that the Gran Prix is here this weekend. The change was made they said because of the crowds that would be there this Saturday and Sunday and the difficulty of getting around. Jim and I weren't too upset, we were still going to get to see Monaco; we would just see it on Friday instead of Sunday. Several people were very upset...they had chosen this trip because of the race. Our hotel was actually to be the Fairmont where the race goes under the hotel. Maybe the tour company found a better use or sale for the rooms??!!

The trip to Monaco was great, so beautiful with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean sea, harbors, yachts, boats, etc. The water is so blue!! The palace area is spectacular and their views of Monte Carlo and surrounding areas of Monaco can't even be fully expressed in the photos. We did get to drive along parts of the Gran Prix circuit. We walked up to the Royal Palace of the Grimaldi family. The St. Nicholas Cathedral is also the burial place of the Grimaldi's including Princess Grace. It is in a small courtyard area with other government buidlings.

We ended the day with a ride to Juan les Pain our home for the next three nights
