In Wasilla, Sarah loved it.
Left Denali at 9:50AM. Photo-op at Hurricane Gulch Bridge. The bridge is 550' long and 260' above Hurricane Creek. I'm sure Mr. Bill would love the view from here. Stopped at "Medal of Honor Loop to Alaska Veterans MEMORIAL/POW-MIA" rest area. The memorial consists of an alcove and a semicircle of 5 20-foot tall concrete panels, one for each branch of the service and a large star on the upper part and an inscription on the lower part. The memorial reads: "We dedicate this quiet place to the remembrance of the veterans of Alaska who have served their country at home and throughout the world. We honor their heroism and dedication". This is also about the best site in Alaska to view Mt. McKinley/Denali as it is only 35 miles away. Unfortunately clouds were completely covering the whole mountain. I was told that only about 30% of the people who come to see the mtn. actually see it due to all the clouds. We stopped at the town of Talkeetna. This is supposedly the town that the TV series Northern Lights was based on. Next up was a stop at Wal-Mike's in Trapper Creek,AK. If Wal-Mart doesn't have it Wal-Mike's does. Stopped for the night at Big Bear RV Park in Wasilla,AK at 5PM. (239.1 miles)
Note to Mr. Bill: Sarah liked the decal in the motor home's window.
