Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

We have Lauren with us today. She is taking her morning nap right now so I am taking advantage of the quiet to begin writing this journal entry.

Next year will actually be our 50th wedding anniversary.

We celebrated early with that cruise to the Holy Land last October, but now are making plans for the actual date.

We have spent numerous anniversaries at our favorite place in the world, The Grand Canyon. Three of our anniversaries were spent backpacking to the bottom of the canyon with friends.

On one occasion our daughter, Jennifer, backpacked the canyon with us.

We have been there 17 times but it has been quite awhile since we have returned to this wonderful place.

Next year we plan to return for our 18th visit.

Backpacking is no longer an option for us but to sit on the rim and watch the condors soaring above the majestic beauty of this magical place moves us every time we see it.

We plan to visit Topeka, Ks, Oklahoma City, OK, Amarillo, TX, Raton, Santa Fe, Taos, Albuquerque, and Gallup, NM, Canyon de Chelly, Flagstaff, Sedona, Cottonwood, Jerome, Cameron, and Grand Canyon, AZ, Kanab, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Parks in Utah, and spend time resting from our travels back at Mountaindale RV Resort near Colorado Springs, CO.

It should be a fun trip!

I spent time this morning, researching RV Parks to stay in along the way, and trying to divide our travel into 4 to 6 hour days on the road.

We will start making reservations for some of the places soon.

We are having another hot, humid day here in northeast Missouri, with expected temperatures in the mid 90’s.

Can’t wait to get in that cooler, dry, mountain air of Colorado!

Speaking of that, we should arrive at our summer home in Mountaindale, just two weeks from today!

Jesse & Ginger, Tony & Jackie, Ken & Jean, David, Mary, and all the gang, we are anxious to see you all. It won’t be long now!

In the afternoon today, as we played with Lauren, the cell phone rang.

It was Jennifer letting us know that she was getting off early and was on the way out to pick up Lauren.

She visited for a few minutes and then Jen & Lauren headed home, leaving us to ourselves.

We went back inside to the air conditioned coolness and relaxed.

I guess that is about enough information on today’s activity.

Have a great day, dear readers.

Life is Good!
