Mud....that is!!!! Friday we had a delightful travel day through the countryside of Ohio. When we were here 4 years ago in October all the fields were full of corn ready to be harvested. This year I doubt there will be much corn. Ohio has so much rain the farmers are not able to plant. We pass acres and acres of fields that have not even been plowed. We have been told by many locals that a lot of the farmers are not even planning on having a crop this year. Wonder how that's going to affect food prices? All the rivers and streams are running over their banks. These folks are hoping for some dry weather.

Along the countryside in Ohio are many beautiful churches that seem to be in the middle of nowhere. We passed quite a few today but I only managed to photograph one. I must try to do better. When we were in Jackson Center, OH, a few years ago they had tour of the country churchs. Next time we are that way we plan to do that drive.

At the end of the day Friday we arrived a Lazy J RV Resort in Bellevue, OH. Now, because there has been so much rain in Ohio and I knew we would be parking on grass, I called Thursday to check on the condition of the campground. I was told all was good and no need to worry about getting stuck. NOT.....When we arrived the host went to check out our assigned site and said it was not good but he had a site for us. So we followed him......he lead us straight down the grass towards our site .....half way there the tires of the truck started spinning....we were STUCK! Half way between sites. In a bog. The ground was like sponge. There was nothing we could do but stay there and hope things might dry out. We were able to raise the trailer high enough so Tom could remove the hitch from the receiver on the truck. We were sitting level side to side and we were now able to level front to back. Not a problem hooking up to water and electric. Saturday the sun didn't shine but the wind was blowing so we just relaxed....couldn't go anywhere. Then Saturday night it rained for 5 hours straight. We were now in real trouble.

Sunday morning we continued to relaxed and discuss our options. We talked with the campground host and they said their tractor couldn't pull us out. So we decided to call Good Sam to the rescue. Within the hour the wrecker with a wench arrived, hooked us up and very slowly pulled the truck and the trailer to the road.(We were able to put the hitch back in the receiver on the truck and drop the trailer on the ball.....remember we couldn't move the truck at all). We moved to another site for Saturday night and prayed for no rain. This morning we were able to pull off the site with no trouble!

Today was a short travel day. Next post I will tell you what we are up to.

Remember that today is Memorial Day that honors those who have died in service to our county for our freedom and those who are on active duty serving and protecting us. Keep these service men and women and their families in your thoughts and prayers.

Until next time.......we are blessed to be living this lifestyle.
