Tornado warnings on tv

Today started off with the same overcast and gray skies but by noon, a bit of sunshine was peeking out and I took to my lawn chair to absorb some Vitamin D. They are still saying that it will be hot and humid tomorrow. This afternoon, as we were watching the tellie, a flash came on for tornadoes in Michigan. Say what??? We have switched on the Weather Channel and sure enough, there is a line of red boxes marching from west to east, heading to Detroit and the east coast of Michigan. John checked with some neighbors who are from here to the west and they say they don't get tornadoes in this area. Well, I would like to say that this makes me less nervous, but it doesn't. This year is a year to contend with weather wise. We estimate the storm will hit the area in about an hour and a half.

We have been enjoying watching the people, kids and dogs in the park. In spite of there being at least a thousand people here, it is very quiet and everyone has been well behaved. There was a fishing tournament, hay rides, a bike parade and lots of activities for the families with kids and everyone seems to be having fun. John has enjoyed talking with neighbors. There are two ex-marines across from us that have tried for three days to have a fire but the wood they are selling here (and you must buy from them in order to have a fire) is green and won't burn. We have seen only a couple of nice fires and many pits of smoldering smoke. John even felt sorry for the marines and took them our paper but it didn't help any.

We have watched everyone put out their awnings but now with the storm warnings, everyone is starting to put them away along with all outside furniture. Based on the storm we experienced here the other day, it is nothing to take lightly. The winds came out of nowhere and blew furiously.

We are looking forward to tomorrow and watching the exodus of the holiday campers as they head back home. I wonder if we will be left alone in the park.

Rocky continues to adore his new box and has been sleeping in it non-stop since Friday. Mimi has tentatively sat in it just to show him she could, but it is basically his domain.
