Back at the entrace to the KCL campground.

(Ron Writing) After our much longer than expected sojourn in Garden Grove we finally got back on the road this morning. Our original intent was to spend a week or so; however, a series of chiropractor and doctors appointments kept us much longer than expected. But it was a good thing because we got to spend a lot of time with our hosts Barbara and Archie and also several other friends.

We left late this afternoon and drove North on I-5. Just beyond Tejon Pass we turned onto Highway 166 west. At Maricopa we drove a short distance south on HW 33 and then northwest on Soda Lake Road to the KCL Campground in Carrizo Plain National Monument. We spent several days here in late April and early May last year and really enjoy this place. It is so peaceful and there are many beautiful song birds adding a little music. Since we wrote quite a bit about this place and posted many photos last year we’re just going to relax and enjoy the place awhile this year.

When we arrived there was one other couple in the campground with their two horses. We are in the same campsite we had last year. The weather is perfect with temperature in the high 70’s, a light breeze and clear skies. It's usually pretty hot here this late in the spring so we’re lucky to hit a cool spell.

Like last year there’s still no cell service here so this entry will get posted later.
