Vaya con Dios, Lanny
May 20, 2011
|Up early, coffee finished, showers taken, chores finished, dressed and ready to leave the RV by 7:30 AM.
That’s what I call a good start to a busy day.
We drove to Walmart, stopping at a car wash to run the Van through the wash and wax cycle.
With a clean Van we then filled it with fuel and were almost ready to drive north to Kahoka, MO for a funeral.
We drove to Palmyra and stopped for breakfast and to wait for Jennifer to arrive so she could ride with us.
A few minutes before 8:00, Jennifer arrived and we were off, driving in the early morning sunshine on a beautiful day.
My cousin Mary’s husband, Lanny, was a good man, a real outdoorsman, an excellent trap shooter, hunter and fisherman.
He suffered an aneurism about 16 years ago and had been seriously ill since that time.
The service today was a celebration of his life and it was enjoyable. Just the type of family gathering Lanny would have enjoyed.
The dinner held in the basement of the Catholic Church after the service was delicious and presented an opportunity for family members to visit and become reacquainted.
As we drove back toward Palmyra we noticed a dark sky to the south and west. Sure enough, the rain began about 6 miles north of Palmyra and picked up as we drove toward Hannibal.
We arrived at the campground a few minutes ahead of the rain at that spot and ran inside as the rain began falling on us.
Inside the RV, Marilyn & I quickly changed into our PJ’s for the evening and planned to relax, watch a movie and share a pan of popcorn.
Life is Good!
