Living our RV Dream! travel blog

Well I told you that I would be working 9 – 5!! Yes I did and it was totally wonderful. I actually worked 8 and a half hour day and just loved every moment of it.

This was my first full day at work here at Mountaindale and I had half of the two groups who were due to check in, arrive during my shift, the rest were coming in on Friday. I loved the people!!!! We chatted and joked and for the most part most of them were fascinated with my South African accent, which led to l-o-n-g chats. It was great being so busy and I can’t wait for the rest of the summer – I love being busy!!!

Yesterday was my day off. What kind of crazy person would choose, on their day off, to get up at 5 am to go to a Weight Watchers meeting??? The meeting was at 6:45 in old Colorado City, but I really did not feel like going in on Saturday. The leader was hysterically funny, but never the less I much prefer my regular meeting on a Saturday, where I have become friendly with many of the ladies. Even though I had not lost weight – I weighed the same as last week – I take that as a loss being that I weighed in on the 6th day and I did not gain. Yay!!!!

After the meeting I went to Wally World and then stopped in to PetSmart to make a grooming appointment for Gucci after which I found a close by salon and made an appointment for the same day for a haircut. This will all take place next Thursday my day off.

Yesterday evening we were invited to Jen and Laura’s for a cook out. Jen’s parents were here for days and she wanted them to meet all her “full-time/permanent” friends. I made my Crockpot Cheesy potatoes (which Laura really liked and had to eat the pieces stuck to the crockpot liner) and a tossed salad. They made a bucket load of chicken, either with ginger and honey or rosemary and garlic. I had the latter which was finger lickin’ good!! We had a wonderful time together although it turned pretty chilly and Tony and I decided to go home and get warm. Yeah, the cold weather is hard on our Floridian blood, but trust me, we prefer this warm and then cool weather. It’s such a change from our hot, hot, muggy and hotter weather back home.

This morning we got up at 9:30 (can you believe it???) got up and sat with our coffee enjoying all the birds around the feeders. We must have had 30-40 birds at one time!! This is the life.

After a light breakfast Tony pulled out the toilet which has been acting up lately. The water has not been staying in the bowl. He took it outside, washed it down completely and cleaned every singe component. That is all it needed, a BIG TIME cleaning, no parts were necessary and now it works 100%. During this time I went for a mile walk. I know that it takes me 15 minutes to walk a mile. So I walked around the campground for 20 minutes and felt invigorated. When I arrived home Gucci was sitting in the doorway of the rig (we leave the door open during the day and she sits on the door mat watching the world go by) waiting for me. I put her leash on and we walked around the park again, not at the same speed as I usually walked but she loved smelling all the interesting smells.

At 1pm I went to work for the afternoon. It was fabulous. I guess the feeling of “knowing” what you are doing makes work much more interesting. I had 9 people make bookings for the summer and lots of visitors into the office, which makes my day wonderful. I love working with people ……. Just not the cranky ones ☺ Today was all the happy, grateful ones. Everyone had nothing but wonderful things to say about the campground and the staff – it gives you such a fabulous, fuzzy feeling!!! I must say the amount of work David has done here since we were here last July/August is incredible. It truly is a “resort” now. It is a beautiful campground and we are sooooooo grateful to be a part of the upgrading (ongoing) on this place. We LOVE it and thank the Lord every day for blessing us and making a way for us to be here.

Tony came down and picked me up at the office at 5 pm, because a light rain had started falling. What a man!!!! It was so hard to tear myself away because we had 3 couples from one of the groups camping here at the moment, in the office, and we were having a good time getting to know one another.

All that is missing is our wonderful friends who will be arriving soon. A week from now Ken and Jean Campbell will arrive and then a month later Ed and Marilyn Dray arrive. I can’t wait!!! Oh how great is life????????
