Yesterday we traveled up the Yellowstone River Canyon to Mammoth and plan to stay here for several days. No hookups and we travel to the town of Gardiner, Montana, 5 miles away for wifi. This evening we are enjoying sandwiches at the Tumbleweed and using their internet service.
What's nice about being in Yellowstone National Park in our new life, we get to stay as long as we want! In our previous trips, it seems we never had more than a couple of days to enjoy the park and it was always in a rush. Today we enjoyed hiking around the Mammoth Hot Springs, seeing the elk, seeing more bison and most of all enjoying the sunshine. In the next few days we would like to travel east in the park over through the Lamar Valley to see if we can be fortunate enough to spot some wolves. We are beginning to hear that the wildlife are starting to give birth. Hopefully, we'll be able to see some of the new crop.
The campground hosts began duty today and it appears they are into all the rules. Nice enough people but they seem to enjoy the enforcement of park regulations over just being friendly. We'll give them a couple of days to settle in and hopefully lighten up. Of course since we are seasoned camp ground hosts we know how to critique. LOL
Since we will be somewhat remote for the next several days the journal will probably be somewhat hit and miss. We'll keep taking pictures and look forward to catching you here from time to time.
