Flooding along I-29 north of Grand Forks

You meet the strangest people when travelling.

Headed for Winnipeg. North from Grand Forks on I-29 and once again huge flooding right up to the edge of the road. This time my DW was good enough to take pictures. Back into Canada. No problem at the border. I love how when they find out you are going to Alaska they ask if you have any firearms or knives. Also any amounts of cash over $10 000, I wish. Just north of the border the road into Winnipeg is closed due ti flooding. Maybe open in mid-May. We had to detour which took an extra hour but it was OK as we got to visit Winkler, MB and Carman,MB the home of Ed Belfour an NHL goalie. Into Winnipeg by early afternoon and set up at Camp Walmart. They also let us fill up with water as we were getting low. Did some shopping at Canadian Tire-a new toaster, mini propane containers, a potato peeler and Marilyn's Mother's day present (can't tell you about that until Sunday). You can tell by our purchases that life is exciting. Phoned my cousin Lisa to let her know we were in town. She picked us up after work and then out to dinner at Carlos and Murphy's a great Mexican restaurant in a section of town by the river. Very, very good. A short tour after dinner including a visit to Lisa's house to see the house and to meet her dog. By this time I was whipped so home to bed. We have decided to stay in Winnipeg tomorrow and “hang out“ with Lisa and have a more extensive tour of Winnipeg.
