Swimming with the sealsMay 5, 2011

| Today was amazing, we booked into a tour to swim with the Australian sea lions, the weather was overcast and I already had on my winter clothes, but we had paid for it and we were all excited, there were only 7 of us and 3 staff, so the tour operators didn't make any money. After a 2 hour boat ride( NO I Didn't CHUCK) we arrived to see them sitting on the beach, do you know there are only 12,000 left and they are on the"rare list" and we got to share the afternoon with them, how amazing is that, I felt very privileged. The water was like ice even with wet suits on, but when you saw them near you, you forgot about how cold you were. They are so slim line and very curious and they kept coming up to us and I got to touch one, (the kids are jealous)they rolled and played in the seaweed at the bottom of the ocean( reminded me of young Tody rolling on the carpet) then they darted and played on the surface, I wished you could have been here to see them. The old male even came over to see what the fuss was about but only hang around the ocean floor. So it was a great day, bec got to drive for the first time on public roads so she was happy. I was happy because dinner was cooked in my dream pot and was steamy hot when we got home, and to hear the kids laugh and share their best parts of the dive was just what every parent wants to see.Amy loved it when she dropped her snorkle in the water a seal kept playing with it, chris dived under to see one and when he got back to the surface it was right near his face,Bec loved how they swam and darted around. But once the mention of diaries came up,well the mood changed really quickly and now 2 Gorman's are in bed and the rest of us are just glad to keep out of the firing line, I'll let you guess which 2 but not a good way to end a perfect day. Off to streaky bay tomorrow, will talk then if we have reception), hope you are well at home, Chris hope you found the chocolate moulds,they are in a plastic bag and i put them somewhere safe !!!, can you show Jan how to get onto my trip journal please or get her to send me her email.Sorry i didn't make sense i only just got out of the freezing water when you rang and my teeth were chattering love you all, miss cell! |
