Mark's Trip to Italy travel blog

Sorry but I've been away from internet access and the situation won't improve until Wednesday. In the meantime I've seen and done a lot of cool things. Wednesday I finished my time in Milan with a wonderful meal of spaghetti with mussels, parmesan roasted chicken and a few other things that I detailed with photos.

On Sunday afternoon I was driven to Parma (Think Parmigiano cheese or Prosciutto di Parma)...they're both made there). We got to explore the Duke's park and had a walk around the old city before having a wonderful dinner with lots of things I will describe and show you pictures of on Wednesday.

On Monday we were met by the head of a local Parmigiano cheese factory and we went to see where it was made. After that we visited one of the few places where they make real traditional Balsamic Vinegar in Modena.

We finished the afternoon with a visit to the family of a good friend of mine-Enrico Siroli. He's been in the Dominican Republic for some time now and it was a pleasure to finally meet his parents (I met his sister a few years ago here in Italy). We left with something you just can't buy...his mother Anna's homemade canned artichokes. I just hope I'll be able to resist them until I head home to the US. After that we went to Rimini, a famous beach town here in Italy made popular by the famed Italian film maker Federico Fellini. We enjoyed the most exquisite meal that I've had since I got to Italy...more on that later...and now it is time for bed. Tomorrow we head south to Macerata where I'll meet the friends I originally decided to fly here to Italy to see in the first place.

Then on Wednesday I head to Naples and meet up with friends. I have a long layover at the airport in Rome and I promise that I'll do what I can to update the pictures and stories.

I'll be in touch!
