Seeing the USA in our Chevrolet travel blog

We made it back to Oregon this afternoon and will spend one night at a familiar place. The Hee Hee Illahee RV Resort in Salem provides a good in and out function from nearby I-5 at a fairly reasonable price.

Before making the 244 mile drive to Salem this morning, we enjoyed a fine evening with good friends Steven and Linda who reside in the Seattle area. I grilled some of our remaining brats from Ennis, Montana and Linda tossed a good green salad and brought along a key lime pie and beverages. We had a great time getting caught up on the activities of these good folks and look forward to seeing them again in the future.

What a beautiful day for a drive today!!! The sun was bright and clear in the sky and we had a fine view of the major peaks of the Cascade Range during our southward drive. We arrived in Salem by mid afternoon, set up our rolling home, took showers, exercised the hound and called journal readers Bill and Diane to set up a meeting time. Bill contacted me by email a couple of weeks back to see if we could find a place where we crossed paths. Salem was that place.

We got acquainted with our new travel friends at the RV park and joined for a good Mexican dinner at a nearby eatery. Not fancy by any means, the food at Aibertos was above average and certainly priced right. We had a fine evening with Bill and Diane and will find them along the highways again I'm sure.

Because we can, we have made another adjustment to our travel plans and will meet up with long time fulltimers Barb and Dave tomorrow afternoon in Sutherlin, Oregon for several days of fun activities in the south part of the state. We last saw Barb and Dave during our short visit to Mesa, Arizona in January and are eager to see them again. We still expect to return to Port Orford by the weekend.

We'll check back in with you all tomorrow from Sutherlin..............................
