Storage units broken into...Apr 29, 2011 |

| Today at home with our contractors busy working on the house, we received a call from our storage owner that our 2 units, RV and house storage were broken into. We asked them to lock up behind themselves as we had to go. The thieves hit every unit and smashing the security gate with owners stolen van full of everyone's electronics on exit. We were shocked to find our TVs, DVDs, cameras, and game systems gone. They tried to steal the whole RV but no spare ignition key was inside. They did try, and left a wrong key stuck in the ignition. However, they did steal the owners work van and dumped it in the river. I am so happy our RV was not taken or vandalized, we have fixed it up so good only to have it driven into a river. I've seen that episode on TV, COPS? RV on fire and headed into a boat landing... I have been seriously thinking about RV security systems and had my eye on a new digital deadbolt. I am now looking into a good security system to go along with that. My truck has a good one so why not the RV? Guardian Systems has satellite uplink and quite a few features. If anyone has information on good systems I'm all ears. We are so happy that we did not loose our laptops, drives and best cameras, they were at home. However, we did loose approx. 6K in electronics and DVD's. I guess this is a pre-departure wake up call to not forget about RV home security in all our busy days. (this is the part where we find out how good our insurance is...) |
