Hello again! Right now it is 7:50 a.m. and we're eating breakfast in our hotel before we head off to Soweto, where Nelson Mandela's home is. Soweto is a very poor and historical township(black village). We're heading there for a tour around the area and a tour of the apartheied museum(apartheid is a kind of cruel form of segregation that took place in South Africa throughout its history). Anyway, let me talk about the food. It's honestly not that different from the U.S. The only strange thing is that besides pork, beef, and chicken, they also eat (brace yourself for this) warthog, giraffe, and kudu(like a gazelle). In some places you can also get ostrich. For breakfast they have tons of different fruits(including watermelon, my favorite!) and different types of breads. You can also get scrambled eggs, sausage, lots of different juices, etc. etc. The funny thing is most of the food tastes much different than it does in the U.S. The watermelon is more savory than sweet, and the breads are very doughy and sweet. Miss you guys lots and I can't wait to show you photos!

Love Love Love,

Maddie
