| The party left JFK at 7:15PM on Saturday April 23. Aside from the 17 players on the roster the traveling party consisted of myself, Jose Luis Rebay, Kelly Coppertiate (trainer) and Carla Nastri (administrator). Pete Dicce joined us in Milan. Pete is traveling to Europe to meet up with a US Soccer tour of Germany and Holland and will spend most of the week with us. We traveled to Biella where we will camp until Wednesday. Paul Noble has set up a friendly with a local 96 team for Tuesday evening. After settling into the hotel we trained at a local club facility for an hour. Kelly put the team through a dynamic stretching routine, then a possession exercise (8v8, then 8v8 directional) and soccer tennis (Jose won the ladder… of course) … a quick hour to get the trip out of our system … Dinner then bed…. A long day. The news of the day was all about ot 94 and 96 teams. Our 94’s reached the final of their tournament vs AC Roma and the final was broadcast on national TV. Our 96s reached the final of their tournament vs Real Zaragaoza … a pretty high standard for the 97’s … |
