Happy Easter everyone!! We got up fairly early this morning, to have our free continental breakfast at the motel. After breakfast, we packed up the bikes and waited in line for the ferry to arrive. We parked our bikes on the ferry with some other bikers, and then enjoyed the 2 ½ hour ferry ride. The water was very calm (thank goodness, because Patti gets motion sickness still sometimes). We arrived at Ocracoke Island at noon, and then rode the length of that island, only to take another 40 minute ride over to Hatteras Island. The whole ride across the Outer Banks took us over bridges and across sand dunes, and of course the 2 ferry rides. I think that all the rich people of North Carolina live on the Outer Banks. The homes that lined these small islands were absolutely huge. Before leaving the islands, we rode into Kitty Hawk, where the Wright Brothers performed their first flights. We stopped in the Wright Brothers Memorial, and toured the museum. Fascinating! After leaving the islands, we rode in to Chesapeake, Virginia. Just north of Chesapeake was a home that was damaged by the tornado that passed through the area last week. There were trees down and caution tape all around the house. Scary. We’re sure glad we missed that storm!

Our kids were worried that we wouldn’t eat the typical Easter meal. Well, we stopped at McDonalds around 3 pm and had lunch……a chicken burger. That filled us up, so that when suppertime came around, we still weren’t hungry. So, we had Scoops, Salsa and a glass of Merlot! Lol. Not your traditional Easter meal. Oh well, C’est la vie when you are on the road!
