National Gallery of Art Rotunda

We stayed on the East side of town and had a really good day. We had a couple of things to go back and see at the Capitol and at the Library of Congress so we started there and finished them. I ran over to the Folger Shakespeare Library to see the building and did not get in to see the theater, rehearsals were ongoing. I did get a few pictures of the Great Hall and like all things up here, big and expensive. We then went down to the US Botanic Gardens where, for a minute, we thought we were in Opryland except for the flowers; flowers were everywhere and the most colorful orchids we have ever seen. We then ended the day at the National Gallery of Art where we saw only a fraction of the paintings and sculptures housed there. Enough rooms in these 2 buildings to house all the government workers in DC. We did find a good seafood restaurant tonight, about 10 miles east of the camper, on the water, West River, Chesapeake Bay, with sailboats and huge shore side homes everywhere. We’ll probably have a book and laundry day tomorrow as it’s supposed to be cold, rainy, and windy.
