Bob & Barb's Winter Trip 2011 - Traveling with the Son travel blog

New spelling of Wichita as in Wichita Falls, TX

Dave & Trish Jak, they met in our Sunday School Class and...

One of the great opportunities of RV travel (as well with a car) is choosing your route and what you want to see. With an RV, you have the kitchen sink and your own bedroom, therefore you are not imposing as much as in a car. Wal-Mart is our "campground" of choice to stay overnight while visiting and traveling. All you have to do is check with the manager of the store to see where you can park for the evening, sometimes two.

Two visits on our way home, of many, come to mind. We were able to finally see one of our "retired" Chaplain couples in Wichita Falls, TX - Bill and Mary Ann. They gave us the grand tour of a town that is re-directing their future. How beautiful the homes and how incredible the church they go to, which has 10% of the town as members, and that is about 4,000 members. We were treated better than royalty and developed a depth of friendship than we have ever had.

In Waco, TX - we spent the day with two incredible young adults that met in our Sunday School Class, Dave and Trish Jack. Dave teaches and researches at Baylor University and is securing the future with his research and teaching. We are a great nation, Baylor is part of that greatness as they focus on God in their studies for the students and the faculty. It was an privilege to see the work he is doing and to know not only does he teach the math, he does the religious math with his research and his students in a way that is honest and bold. Trish is a scroll artist. She does phenomenal work with wood and displays a talent that will continue to develop over time. We have several of her scroll works on our cross wall at home.

Home, a good place worth traveling back to.
