Bob & Barb's Winter Trip 2011 - Traveling with the Son travel blog

As true statement... wish I had purchased the sign!

A day on/at the beach, never a bad thing to do when...

When you turn 65, you are not old... if you are a tree. That is my statement as I turned that Medi-care age yesterday and celebrated with the opportunity to see the next year through as a recipient of continuing Social Security and now government health insurance. What a "milestone" to reach, what a privilege to live in a county that still cares for the "elderly".

Funny, I don't feel old, only when I get up in the morning, mid-afternoon, and catch my self sleeping before the 10:00 o'clock news and wondering how some TV program ended. OK, I like electronics and they don't challenge me as much as some... but there are limits and some "life improvement devices" are beyond the limit. I have not found any yet, but I just got to the "Golden Age" (or is it the rusty age?), we will see what the year, which will pass extremely fast will produce!

I was blessed with a wonderful birthday dinner at Landry's Restaurant on the Gulf of Mexico, besides great gulf shrimp, Barb and I, Curt and Cholly were able to watch the parade of boats travel the estuary as they came and went to the gulf. Can't get better than that! It was a wonderful day with my bride and our friends. Now stomach full, kids have called, friends have e-mailed me wishing me a landmark day. (Some are in the government stuff, others are NOT too far behind...) time for that 6.5 decade sleep... hope I wake up in the morning; I know it will be a glorious day!
