Krabi
| Having spent much of our trip at bus stations and on long distance buses we decided to splash out and fly from Khon Kaen to Krabi. This took most of the day because although the flight from Khon Kaen to Bangkok was only 1 hr and the flight from Bangkok to Krabi was only 90 minutes, we had over 4 hrs between flights at Bangkok airport. Neverthless, the time passed quickly and before we knew it we were at Krabi airport and then into the bus en route to our hotel. Arriving at Krabi made us realise how many contrasting places we have been to in such a short time. Just over a week ago we were in the noisy city of Bangkok, then in the tranquil rural village with our friends and now in Krabi which seems to us to be a very touristy beach resort. Initially we were not so impressed with the western development here as we passed by McDonalds, Starbucks and Subway en route to the beach. However the Limestone cliff scenary is stunning and we saw an amazing sunset on our first night. On day 2 in Krabi we did very little as we need a rest. We found a secluded bit of beach and sat there for several hours just contemplating the world and our trip so far. We realise how lucky we are to be able to travel in this way and experience so many different wonderful places. Krabi is growing on us. |
