Riding along in my automobile…..ok so it is a truck pulling a fifth wheel and a VW Scirroco, but it still the same happy feeling! Yesterday (Saturday) morning we left the AmeriCana RV Resort, our home for the last 4 ½ months. We were sad to leave all the wonderful people we met but very happy to be heading back to what we consider to be home. The first day of driving was spent trekking across the largest of the lower 48 states. Just because everything is bigger in Texas does not mean it is better. We were very happy to finally cross the state line this morning as we set out again to head north. We have made several stops along the way including stopping around dinner time and cooking supper in our home on wheels. There are definitely some benefits to hauling it wherever you go. Who needs a rest stop…we don’t. lol. Our biggest concern for today is the weather. We have already encountered winds that are not helping our cause one bit. We already need to take out a small loan for diesel. The forecast for Colorado Springs, which is our next pit stop for the night, is 70% chance of precipitation and a low of 22 for the night. As much as we have missed winter this is not a good thing when you have a camper that is not winterized because you need to live in it. We may be finding a campground so we can at least hook up to power and make sure we have plenty of propane to run the furnace. The most exciting part of our trip has been getting back to that all too familiar western landscape. I don’t remember the last time I was so excited about a hill. Now it just keeps getting better with plateaus, bluffs and in the far distance we are beginning to see mountains.
Mo and Emma are wonderful travelers for the most part. Mo barks and growls at Emma if she gets too close to his side of the truck. Otherwise they are content to lay in the backseat, sleep and once in awhile they sit up to look around. We have also learned that Mo doesn’t like trains, at least not when they are moving beside you on the road. Emma thinks that traveling is a good time to cuddle so once in awhile she lays her head over your shoulder or buries her head between the seat and your back.
Well, the intention of my writing this was to provide an update on what has been going on in the last month but I am at a loss. It has been the same old thing for the most part. We are waiting to find out if Nathan is still going to Alaska at the end of May and we haven’t figured out where I am working either. Cheyenne is now a possibility which would be better than my other option, Rawlins. Guess we will have to wait and see. The next few months are going to be super busy, with wedding planning, working, traveling, and life in general. We are hoping to see everyone in the next few weeks but if not hopefully we see you in September.
God bless and if the road of life leads you where you least expect it enjoy the ride because you may not pass by here again.
Xoxo
