Arrival in China Mar 25, 2011

Here we are in Beijing. It took exactly 24 hours from the time we got up in Medicine Hat until we arrived at the Huadu Hotel in Beijing. Everything has gone according to plan so far and we are trying to acclimate to being back in China. We have to catch ourselves with things like the water, ice cubes and the traffic! Beijing is a good introduction to China. We had coffee at a Starbucks yesterday and pasta last evening. That will be the end of that for a while. We are awaiting our ride to Qinhuangdao. We spent two nights in Beijing to steel ourselves for the ride. It isn't for the faint of heart but we are more prepared for it than last year. Last year we went straight from the plane to a dark, rainy ride to Qinhuangdao. Yikes. It was pretty surreal feeling by the time we got to the apartment building where we had to stamp our feet in order for the hallway lights to turn on.
