What a winter it has been in Maine! Quite different from the many years we have spent in Florida's sunshine with occasional cold snaps. Winter came around November and it's still here! Once in a while we see the sun and have a warm day around 40 degrees...the snow starts to melt and then BAM! a freeze comes again making driving hazardous. They are prepared in Maine for winter however, and our friends are in the business of keeping Maine on the roads. They have been so good about keeping the driveway clear so we can come and go at will, and the dogs have a place to run and play along the cleared paths. We got a 2-passenger snow mobile and Michael really enjoyed his adventures with our friends Jamie & Scott. I joined them one day and it was a blast, literally! With enough layers you can actually keep warm. We did some snow walking and that was exhausting. Especially when you step on a crisp layer of snow, then crash 5 foot into a soft spot!
Now that Spring has come, and it has according to the calendar, we are looking forward to the melting and evaporating of these 8' high snow mountains. The dogs already miss them, however, Kris and Proby fancy themselves mountain climbers and can be found a top any one of the many around the property. Kris is a little hard to spot being white, but Proby's black/brown coat gives them away every time.
