Lori's European Adventure travel blog

Had a pretty rough day today!!! Started off great. Woke up in Bologna at the Sheraton. I hit the road around 7am because my cooking class in florence started at 10. Google said it would take less than 2hrs so my plan was to drive to the hotel, park and walk 2km to meet the group by the city center. I stopped along the way at a rest stop for cappuccino. That has become one of my favorite parts of the day. The drive was absolutely amazing. One of the prettiest places I've ever been. One minute there were mountains in front of me with snow covering them. The next there was green as far as the eye could see. Just breathtaking!!! Well I got to the town with no problem. Then all hell broke loose and I could not find my way. I stopped and bought a map but the city center is insane. Well I finally arrived almost an hour late but they were all so sweet. I met up with the group at a restaurant a few blocks away. The chef was awesome and the class had about 15 travelers from all over but mostly the U.S. We learned how to make bruschetta, an eggplant dish, our own pasta, incredible sauce and a dessert. We got to eat along the way and we had wine. It was a blast. The class ended around 3 and then I went to explore the city some. I got so lost finding the car I walked miles out of the way. Then I couldn't find the hotel. By the time I found it I was near tears. The girl at the hotel was so nice. She is from napoli and when I told her I was going there she helped me plan my trip and even helped me change my hotel to a better one. She truly brightened my day. I have met so many nice and helpful people here. I was so tired after my stressful day that I didn't even go to dinner! There were definitely moments where I wondered what the I am doing here. ...but it turned out to be a great day!
