I got up a bit earlier than Charlie did this morning. I wanted to work on designing some greeting cards for my mother. She needed a couple to take back home with her. So I worked on those until about 9:30.

Charlie and I then went out for our two mile walk around the park. We also walked out onto the pier to see if the fishermen were catching anything this morning. It appeared to be pretty calm out there. But nevertheless, it was a beautiful day to do anything outside. The skies were a perfect cloudless blue, and there was not a hint of humidity all day.

After we enjoyed our breakfast of sour dough toast and grapefruit outside in our loungers, I took a shower and got cleaned up for our day. We just had a nice relaxed morning.

Around 1:00, we went out for a while. We decided that we would like to go to the beach and enjoy one more day. First we decided to drive to Fort Myers Beach and have lunch at The Fish House at Fish Tales Marina. As usual, we reached the point where traffic comes to almost a complete stop. When you get to Fort Myers Beach, there is a bridge over the water that only allows one lane of traffic to cross at a time. This causes traffic to really slow down, and it took us about 30 minutes to drive only 1 ½ miles.

Finally, we made our way through busy Fort Myers Beach. We observed lots of college students here on spring break, and the streets were full of activity.

By the time we reached the Fish House, the lunch crowd had already cleared out. So we were able to get a table right on the water on their screened porch. We had a wonderful relaxed lunch as we watched all the boat activity in the marina. I think I could have sat there for hours.

After leaving the Fish House, we drove further south along the Gulf Coast. We drove through Lovers Key State Park. The beach parking lots all looked busy, so we kept driving. Within a couple miles, we found ourselves in Bonita Springs. There are lots of public beach parking areas along the highway, and we parked in one of the small lots thinking that this might mean the beach wouldn’t be terribly crowded. We were right.

It was a beautiful day to enjoy the beach. We sat in our chairs and had a great time relaxing, watching people on the beach, looking for shells, and watching the birds and boats. We wanted to stay and watch the sun set, but eventually decided to get back on the road.

We weren’t far from Naples, so we drove a few miles further so that we could go to the Whole Foods store. We picked up some yummy Butternut Squash Crab Soup, a French baguette, and some garlic cheese spread. We should get a couple of meals out of this.

We actually got back home much quicker tonight. The next time we go to Fort Myers Beach, we will just take the interstate. Too bad our GPS didn’t route us that way.

Tonight we are back in our little home and watching a movie.
