|Suitcases packed again we left Lovina & headed up into the mountains again. This time to visit Kintamani see an active volcano at Lake Batur. Some really beautiful scenery along the way.
We stopped at Besakih to visit the Mother Temple on the slopes of Mount Agung, but as we have been to this one before, & in view of yesterdays exertions, we decided not to ascend the multitude of steps that went ever higher inside the temple. We contented ourselves with just wandering around the outer gardens & buying a couple of sarongs.
We then descended back down to sea level on the East coast of Bali to visit Tulamben to go snorkelling. Unfortunately the sea was quite lumpy so Viv decided to give it a miss but as the cost was included in our tour price I wanted to get my monies worth. So I donned face mask, snorkel & fins and struggled across the very stony foreshore into the water. It was worth the effort even despite the constant waves rolling in & filling my snorkel. The fish were lovely although the seabed itself was pretty dingy looking. I dove down once to get a closer look at one spectacular coloured parrot fish who simply ignored me. Pity about the sea conditions as it would have been nice to spend longer there.
Tonights hotel at Candi Dasa was exactly the sort of hotel we like. It was typical Balinese architecture with lovely gardens & right by the sea.
