Lori's European Adventure travel blog

Started today off with a quick trip to the tiny hotel gym. After breakfast and finishing up some work catch up we headed downtown for some lunch. Believe it or not I'm already tired of German food (I never was a fan) So we had Thai! LOL We walked around, took a lot of pictures of the castle and before we knew it it was time to go to work. Today we visited our USAMRU-E (U.S. Army Medical Research Unit Europe) We were supposed to go this morning but we got bumped for a surgeon general visit. (How rude! haha) So I spent the afternoon sitting through their command brief and hearing what they do. Pretty interesting stuff. The meeting didn't end until after 6pm. By then the jetlag started to hit and the coffee was wearing off, but it was time for dinner. We decided to go to a little town about 10 minutes away. I can't think of the name right now but I've been before. It has a palace in the middle. Usually castles are on hills but this one is smack dab in the middle of downtown. I used to ride bikes in the town but it looked completely different. They paved a big park. It looks nice but very different. We were going to go to a brewery but it was standing room only because right now Germany is celebrating their version of Carnival (I know their word for it but I can't spell if for the life of me). Everyone dresses up. It looked like halloween in there so we went across the street to a less packed restaurant. I had chicken again. LOL It's pretty much the only word I know in German food. It was either that or pasta and since I will be going to Italy in 2 days I didn't want to go there. Ohhh and the restaurant had my FAVORITE German drink. Batita Kirsche (have no clue if I'm spelling that right but I haven't had one in 10yrs and they're yummy!) I also ordered water and specifically said no gas and it still came with gas. YUCK!!! I like plain old spring water no need to make it taste like flat soda for me! So anyways, not too exciting of a day. I had a lot of fun though. I'm sure if I hadn't lived here for over 4yrs all of this would be super exciting, it really is an amazingly beautiful city. ...tomorrow I get to see my friend Tiffany. Looking forward to having dinner and doing a little shopping with her.
