Bushnell, FL to Valdosta, GAMar 2, 2011 |

| We are on the move. I’m not really saying this is the beginning of our trip for this year. I don’t know why. We have a couple of family visits first. One in Perry, GA and then to Nashville for a couple weeks. When we leave Nashville and head west, that’s when I’ll think our trip has begun. For today, we traveled along US 41 North to Lake City, then jumped on I-75 for the last 35 miles or so into Valdosta. US 41 was an excellent road. Two-lane most of the way, but with very light traffic and no potholes. During the first hour we passed through a couple small towns with the normal stop and go at traffic lights and a few turns. After that it was smooth sailing all the way. On I-75 northbound, there was a lot of traffic and only one 2-mile stretch of construction. The road surface was in pretty good shape and in the construction zone only one of three lanes was closed. Traffic moved through that area at 60 mph with no hold ups. The price for fuel is very high in Florida. We had noticed a marked increase of about 50 cents per gallon over the past 10 days or so. At all stations, gasoline was around 3.55 and diesel was about 3.85. Prices are a little cheaper in Georgia. Here at Wal-Mart gas is 3.45 and diesel is 3.75. We’re parked at Wal-Mart and have gotten the rest of our shopping done. I guess we’re settled in for the night. Tomorrow, Perry, GA. Click here to leave a comment. |
