We were up to see the sunrise again and enjoy the morning coffee on the balcony. The Schmiedt’s packed and were off to the airport about 10am. We decided to go to the Greenwell Farm and take the Kona Coffee tour with tasting. The farm was one of the first farms to plant coffee and export it. They are now one of the major coffee processors and exporters on Hawaii. They buy coffee cherries from the small farms and process it to the coffee bean stage and then export it to companies like Peete’s to roast and put their name on it. They only roast about 10% of their beans to sell, and they only sell coffee at the farm or online. It was an interesting tour walking through the coffee plants and seeing the processing and drying areas. Of course we purchased some coffee to take home with us.

After lunch we went back to the Condo for some pool time in the afternoon. This was to be Ed and Judie’s romantic night out at the Kona Inn. About 2pm Kim called and said they were on the plane but waiting as the plane had a sensor problem that they were trying to repair. Awhile later, Kim called to say the flight was off loaded and they were waiting for a decision on the plane. Ed went out to get dinner for Chey and him as they would not have a vehicle. While he was out getting dinner, Kim called to say their flight was cancelled and was rescheduled for tomorrow morning at 10:30am. She asked for Ed to pick them up at the airport. With a quick call to Ed we got him headed to the airport while Dad went to the office to negotiate getting their condo back for the night. On the way from the airport they picked up dinner for everyone, so Ed and Judie could still go on their night out, only a little later than planned. Dad was able after some time on the phone to get Ed and Chey on the 10:30am plane so they could get back to Eugene earlier.

Dad was able to get Ed and Chey seats on the same 10:30am flight, as United had added the flight to accommodate the stranded folks. This will require a taxi with the rental car for 6 to get to the airport and someone to drive. Ed and Judie will leave on the 1:30 pm flight as scheduled.

We had a great dinner and view of the ocean at the Kona Inn for our romantic night out. It was a very enjoyable experience for the two of us. We went back to the condo and spent the rest of the evening visiting and doing some packing.
