Today was such an amazing day!
We started out at En Gedi. It's the place where David went and tore part of Saul's cloak. It has become a nature preserve and is growing so beautifully. The Israeli people take such care to build up their land. I think if more people understood this, they would see that this land was created for this people and this people created for this land.
I wasn't able to go into the actual cave because of time, but was promised that when I come back with Obed, we can do the hike.
We went next to Masada. It's massive! And that is an understatement. To think that people lived there completely self- sufficient for so long only to have to kill themselves so that they would not become slaves to the Romans.... wow. Again, I could have spent the entire day there and would have had to if I wanted to see all of this incredible place. The craftmanship that has lasted for so many years boggles my mind. I had to keep asking, "now they haven't re-strutured this right?" And the reply was always the same.. "No. They found it exactly as you see it"
There is a path called "the snake trail" that you can hike up to the top. We saw many people doing this, but didn't do it ourselves. Time and heat would have made it an issue. Next time..... and there will SO be a next time. And a time after that as well
I am quickly solidifying my love for this land. and for it's people.
Got back to the hotel and went directly to floating in the Salt Sea. Just plain cool! I posted a blog on it @ www.thebirthmarks@blogspot.com if you want to check it out.
Will post some more tomorrow and put some pictures up when I can.
