The Beange-Findlay US/European Road Trip 2005 travel blog

Exiting Barcelona was heaps easier than entering. We went out toll roads all the way. Very expensive but also fast at 120 KMPH in Spain. Not quite as good as France where it is 130 kmph.

Called back thru Figeures again and spent several hours in the Salvador Dali Museum. He set up this amazing tribute to his art before his death and it is the Museum (gallery) we have all enjoyed the most on this trip. I even splashed out and bought some replicas.

We decided not to go back out to the coast to see his house but rather keep driving and head back into France; We headed for Canet en Plage one of the resorts the government (under Mitterand) built to woo French tourists to stay in France rather than go to Spain.

For ~E20 we enjoyed 3 pools including a water slide that James loved and the beach right next door. Beside the beach were also wall to wall apartment buildings with gardens leading to the concrete boulevard running beside the sand. Cute little enclaves with beach umbrellas and deckchairs were dotted along the beach all with very few people out enjoying the 30° heat. Quite bizarre really!
