After a few days at Sivananda Ashram, we are now getting into the routine of things here and the routine of getting up at 5.20 for 6am chanting and meditation for 1.5 hours is a little less difficult. Tea at 7.30am is always welcome but after sitting cross legged John has a back pain and now has to go into a 2 hour yoga session. We make the mistake of emptying health hut bins (very heavy) as part of our Karma Yoga before going to a talk by a lovely if possibly slightly mad Russion woman on Vastra Architecture. At 12.30 we go to the health hut for ginger lemon soda and then have tea and a chat to people at 1.30pm. We should explain that the health hut sells a variety of tasty food that you can choose rather than just eat what you are given. Still only vegetarian food but we have been on a vegetarian (with occasional fish by the sea) diet since we arrived in India. At 3.30 we do a 2 hour yoga session by the lake which is lovely and surrounded by lush green foliage. In the wind small branches fall on us as we practice yoga. The lions' roar from across the lake is loud and disconcerting as two males fight for territory and dominance. We are warned not to swim as crocodiles have been recently sighted. The yoga becomes a little more challenging with shoulder stands. This evening there was a talent show which was very entertaining.
