Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower purchased the land and a red brick farmhouse in Gettysburg for a retirement home. The original house could not be saved so a new one was built. In 1952 Dwight became President of the United States and when in 1955 the renovations and rebuilt was complete guests of the President were invited to the farm and given an extensive tour.

We took the National Parks tour of the house situated in the middle of the Gettysburg Battlefield.
