7th Feb '11

Today we got up and went for breakfast at the hotel restaurant! What a spread they had. Bunch of people there from around the world from Nestle. Had nothing to do with the breakfast, just though I would throw that in.

The temperature today is a nice +25, overcast. We bought a ticket on the 'Captain Cook' tours and toured the harbours on the way to Taronga Zoo. There were a bunch of crazy people hiking the top of Sydney harbour bridge! They do this all of the time. We looked into it but decided against it as it was very expensive and not a nice sunny day.

On to the Taronga Zoo. Words can't describe this place. If you google it, you will see what I mean. Of course we took another 400 or so pictures.

When you arrive at the zoo you take a cable car up to the top of everything and then work your way back down through all the exhibits to the bottom..

Did you ever see a baby elephant playing in the water, completely submerging and coming up somewhere's else in the pool? We did, totally entertaining and amazing!

Again pictures say it all.

Funny thing, we saw a 'Tony Roma's' down the street from the hotel. We thought “what a good place to go for supper”. When we entered the place we immediately knew that it wasn't quite the Tony's that we know in Canada, which are about one step above a fast food place.

What gave it away, was a Maitre'd who met us at the door. His first question was “do you have reservations?”. No, sorry no entry. And the place looked very classy. So down trodden we gave up the idea of roma's ribs, and went hunting for a place for us common folk.

We found a place called 'Nando's' . Portuguese & a chicken place. I had really wanted a burger or ribs, however by this time we were hungry. It was pretty good.

Went back to the hotel, and kicked back. My feet were aching. We must have walked 20 or 30 kms.

Watched some Australian rugby league. Funny game! Guy runs with the ball, 20 guys pile upon him. Let him up and he keeps the ball and hands it off to his team mate, who repeats the same thing! They do this 6 times and if they are not across the opponents line, they give them the ball and they have their 6 turns, weird! And don't even ask me about this game called 'cricket' . Can't get by head around that one!

Had a couple of beers, which by the way at the bottle store (that is what they call the beer store) cost $24 for 6. Ouch

Time to turn in. Sure funny being somewhere without my computer or Ipod. First time every. However I do have my Kindle, it has become my buddy!

CU.
