Our Mexican 10th Anniversary travel blog

Umm, yeah we likey this placey

In short, this place is worth the ride!

After another long day of travel we arrived safely at hotel Playa Maya yesterday evening. After check-in, we cruised the famous 5th avenue for some sightseeing. Just Wow. The colors, the lights, the music, the wonderful smell of great food. What a funky vibe! La Quinta Avenida is a bustling marketplace. Shop hawkers all have a unique catch line to attract you into their stores. Hola, best prices in Mexico, we make a deal, Free plastic bag with your purchase!

We ate at an Argentinian steak house for dinner but it was underwhelming. Ordering through a language barrier is quite an interesting experience! Regardless, we had a big HD tv right in front of us to watch the NFL playoff game Steelers vs Jets. After dinner we roamed some more. Parking ourselves at a nice outdoor bar with swings (brilliant!), we were serenaded by a wonderful roaming mariachi band here. They did 2 songs for us for $10! One "romantic" song in espanol (Senora Mia I think) then they did La Bamba by my request. Truly a huge grinning moment for us as we sipped on fresh margaritas together. We have definitely arrived!

Since we hit the bed early last night, I was up early excited and ready to go. A brief cruise onto 5th for some peso exchange and a skinny latte at Starbucks (one block away!). Alli is up with the beautiful morning sun as well and we are going to the beach all day today. Maybe some massages too. It's hot already as we are in our shorts and bathing suits at 8am!! I can soooo get used to this...
