Spent a very pleasant morning in the B.A. Stop Hostel talking with Daniel (art historian studying Edward Hopper) and Beth (friend from NaVIMAG ferry) about travel, people, places, etc....Left on city bus to the Retiro train station where we waited an hour for the noon thirty train which came in late at 1pm. After a very nice hour an a half journey to Tigre where it seemed half the population of B.A. had gone, we walked the short distance to the boat terminal just across the river for tickets to Carmelo. Boat took off half hour late at 4 and we arr in Carmelo at 730 local time (lost an hour)...very nice arr here now since the sun set and it is cooling off. On our ferry trip passing down the river channel we discovered why sooo many people come to Tigre, not just for the water access (huge number of boats/marinas) but the town is all about entertainment, a 6 Flags-type amusement park, plus all kinds of other related water/land tourist activities. See pics.
A short walk to Rambla Hotel and we were in a smallish, 3 bed room w/ bath, TV (no cable), and brkfst...nice lady, Anna, helped us w/ all the info we needed...ATM, plaza, restaurant, etc. Apparently, when Bon paid for our airline tickets via phone two days before it killed her debit cards (bank would not give her $$$), very irritating so now tomor she has to call Billings and straighten it all our for a 3rd time on our journey!!! I suppose this should make us feel more secure since VISA has such a tight rein on charges, but for our purposes and because Bon had called the bank twice before telling them where we were travelling etc. it is nonetheless quite frustrating.
