Taxi Driver Wearing Mask

I guess I should not have said that I was feeling better. Today Laura and I are both sick again. This is the third time since 25 December. I had the flu, then stomach problems, now a bad cold I think. I hope it is not the flu again. Laura is worse than I this time.

We probably got it from travelling on so many buses and subway trains. There are bound to be some sick people on board. In fact, it was mentioned on the local news tonight about the large number of sick people in the city.

I am posting a photo that I took a few days ago of a VW taxi. I noticed later when I put the photo on my computer that the driver was wearing a mask. People wearing face masks are a common sight in Mexico. I am told these are sick people, not people trying to prevent becoming sick. I am sure that not all sick people wear masks though.

I hope we get well soon. We have a reservation at a hotel in Acapulco on Sunday for a few days at the beach. I don’t know if I can change the date.

The good news is that doctors and medicine are very cheap here. A visit to the doctor’s office costs about $2.00 and most medicine costs between 50 cents and a few dollars. Today Laura got three different medicines: an antibiotic for the flu, cough syrup and something for preventing phlegm. The total cost including the consolation with the doctor and a prescription was $21.00.
