Lin Ostrom relaxing at dinner

Weather consistent--sunny, mid-high twenties during day and cool (12-16) at night

Day 2 of IFRI meeting. Lynn Palmer arrived just as I was leaving for the meeting. She had been sick on the flights over so was looking forward to getting some rest,

We finished the meeting at 5 and then went shopping at a place Leticia had discovered the day before--FabIndia. It was a power shopping trip because we had to be back at the hotel to catch a bus for a dinner hosted by the Forest Ecological Society. We took a rickshaw taxi from the hotel. Had a hairy ride through the incessant traffic, longer than expected because our driver didn't know where he was going. It took us 15 minutes to get there and 5 to get back. We asked the driver to wait for us because at least he knew how to get us back to the hotel. The store had beautiful clothes (and you can shop online at http://www.fabindia.com/). I bought a pair of earrings, a pair of cotton pants/leggings (churidar), a blue silk tunic (a kurta) and a gold and blue silk scarf (a dupatta) I plan on wearing the outfit to the banquet at the Chowmahalla Palace on Wed night.

We made it back just in time to catch the bus. We were taken to a beautiful open air restaurant. We had the garden section reserved for us. Had my first alcohol since arriving--cold beer, and it sure tasted good. The first part of the evening we were served appetizers, and then we had a sumptuous buffet. I had to try everything, but couldn't finish my plate, although I did have room for dessert, my favourite--gulab jamin, small donut-like balls soaked in honey and rosewater. Mmmmm...

Was thankful to get back to the Institute and crawl into bed. Lynn was feeling better and had gone for an afternoon swim.
