We spent the afternoon at one of the two pools at Fort Wilderness. Since most people go to the Disney parks during the day we had it all to ourselves for most of the time. There was a nice hot tub too and the pool was heated so it was a very pleasant way to spend the afternoon.
Every night at Fort Wilderness there is a western dinner and show called Hoop-De-Doo. We went with the Swensons and their family for the 7:15 show. Dinner was tossed salad and corn bread, fried chicken, ribs, baked beans and mashed potatoes and strawberry shortcake for dessert.
A musical review was interspersed throughout the dinner and engaged all ages. Pretty cool! People in the audience got in the act and, for the grand finale, each table was given a washboard which we played enthusiastically with our spoons.
Following the show we went to the beach and watched as a parade of barges with lights on them came out and displayed a sea serpent and dolphins jumping, and there was a patriot ending with flags flying. It was a fun day. We said goodbye to our friends. They will be heading back home on Friday. Work is beckoning. We, on the other hand, continue our wayward ways of retirement bliss!
