|17th December. We are now in NSW and are heading towards the Snowy Mountains, we stopped off in Gundagai, and on arriving found that we had travelled over 100 Klms with the caravan keys hanging from the door, talk about lucky. After driving through the town looking for somewhere to park the vans (most towns don’t have many parking spaces large enough to park vans) we finally parked at the Tourist Info Centre, inside are bronze statues of Dad, Mum, Dave and Mable characters from the Dad and Dave radio program, also there is a wonderful marble temple/building which is 4ft high and is made from NSW marble, by Mr Frank Rusconi, it is so beautiful, it took 27 yrs., to complete, the structure was made without drawings or plans. We were so impressed. After morning tea we drove out to see the Dog on the Tuckerbox (from the song) nice but not over impressive. From there we drove to Tumut through very beautiful hilly country, Tumut is part of the Snowy Mountain Scheme, then on to a lovely camping spot at Bowering Lake (drop toilets, BBQs, and plenty of shade) we had thought that we would stay a couple of nights, but we woke up to pouring rain, so decided to move on.
