From Berry Springs RV Park – Georgetown, TX
Well, like all the others in the Houston/Galveston, TX area, we have been running from Ike. We have not done any sightseeing since being here in Georgetown except yesterday, we took a drive through Round Rock and San Marcos just to get away from the 24/7 coverage on TV of Ike and its destruction.
We did drive by the Astros Triple A team facility in Round Rock; Dell Diamond. Will post a few photos with a later journal entry. The rest of the week we just stayed at the park and did nothing but check with our son and daughter-in-law about how they were coping with the NO electricity after the storm. However, they had no damage to their house, just this inconvenience.
We had to cancel all our MD appointments that we had set for these last two weeks of September due to storm damage and the closing of several of their offices. Will try to catch them in December when back in the Houston/Texas City area. We even had to delay a visit with my Mom tomorrow due to the storm and our movements around the state to stay away from Ike.
Tomorrow we will head for Lake Texana State Park and begin our hosting job earlier than October 1st. Will keep you updated on that experience for the next 6 weeks. Our friends are also going to host in October so we will not be the rookies this time around.
Not much else new for now. Just hope all our friends and family are safe and get their daily lives back together real soon. If you were fortunate enough to be out of the path of Hurricane Ike, feel very blessed.
For now, enjoy your life as much as each day will allow and remember …. “yesterday is gone, tomorrow may not come so live for today”. Till Later….
