Yet Another Beautiful No Rain Sunset View

From Mitchell Resort & RV Park – Perrin, TX

The Hingsts are back on the radar. Just FYI, if you have been following the itinerary on the journal homepage you will note we have gotten off track with this move, but that is what a hurricane will do for the best laid plans of mice and men. We will however get back on track once we arrive back in La Marque for our many appointments scheduled mid to end of September.

We watched The Weather Channel hours on end, changing our route agenda four or five times, even thinking at one point about heading northeast to Memphis, TN. However rain forecast maps lead to our final decision to head back into Texas northwest of Dallas/Ft. Worth to try and stay out of the torrential rain falls predicted as Gustav moved inland.

Leaving the state park in Mena before sunrise yesterday; Tuesday, we drove about 7 hours and over 300 miles arriving 40 miles northwest of Ft. Worth at our new home for the next week in Perrin, TX. This met our objectives of being back in Texas and to the west of the predicted rainfall area.

While deciding what to do and where to go, Rudy met and talked with a couple from Keller, TX who had the site next to us at Mena. They said they had been to this park several times and would highly recommend it. Glad we took their advice, it is a very nice park with friendly staff and many, many things to enjoy if so inclined. However, it is in a very remote location with the closest shopping being located in Mineral Wells some 20 miles away.

Some of the amenities of this park are full service hookups with 50 amp, Wi-Fi, 3 in-ground swimming pools; one being strictly for water volleyball, cabins to rent, a very large grassy dog play yard, baseball field, 4 clubhouses, volleyball court, children’s playground, basketball court, 9-hole par three golf course and an outdoor stage area. Also as you will note on the photo of the entrance sign to the park, they hold many musical festivals throughout the year. Boy, did I forget anything?

We are planning a trip into Mineral Wells tomorrow as I found a groomer for Cody who needs her tender loving care badly. While waiting for him, we will frequent the Wal-Mart Superstore, the AT&T cell phone store and see what else catches our eye. Hopefully a car wash for “Big Red” can be spotted.

Thanks for keeping up with us on the road. Till Later……….
