From Lake Texana State Park – Edna, Texas
Now two weeks into our month’s commitment to park host. We have been having a ball. Where else can you be on a lake with the cool breezes blowing, hand waving hellos by all you pass, seeing people enjoy the out of doors with family and friends and experience nature and her creatures at every turn both night and day?
Our work assignments become easier with less time to complete each day. Rudy had an unusual assignment given him over the weekend. The park is going to have an intern for the summer and Cindy asked if Rudy would move the trailer to the spot next to us and make sure everything was hooked up and ready for his arrival Monday. Those of you that know Rudy well, realize this was right down his alley and was not work at all. When Trey arrived he was given a “guided” tour of his summer housing and instructions for its proper upkeep.
We are both glad that we signed up to be part of the Host Program with the TPWD. Our first experience has been with a very friendly park staff and co-hosts with more than 10 years experience between them. Free park rent for an entire month in exchange for a small amount of work and lots of enjoyment is not a bad deal.
Have you ever opened your email and see the name of a sender that makes your heart jump for joy? I had two this last week. The first was from an old friend that I had missed very much. Hearing from her and both of us agreeing to communicate on a regular basis once again was heaven sent.
The second email was from the author of one of the journals that I mentioned in prior postings as being responsible for my decision to live the fulltime RV lifestyle. He said that he had found my journal and noticed similar writing style to his. I am flattered by this in that when reading his entries, I often said “if I could relate my experiences like this, it would be a dream”. I must admit that the acronym he uses throughout his journal for his GPS navigation system; “GyPSy Lady” is used in my journal but as “GyPSy Jill” relating to the voice name choice on our system. I am truly flattered that he took the time to leave a message and hope that he continues to read and enjoy this journal.
Till Later……
