From Sunset King Lake Resort in DeFuniak Springs, Florida 90 miles East of Pensacola, FL

Had a nice travel day with lots of sun and today despite it being mostly Interstate driving, we experienced being able to see more incorporated areas including right through Mobile, Alabama.

The title comes from Rudy saying as we entered Florida, it was a first for him to be in the state. I also have never been in the state prior to today, so a life's first for both of us. Hopefully one of many firsts to come with this lifestyle.

GPSyLady (our Garmin GPS), took us on a long "round about" way to the park where we are staying for the night. At one point we both were thinking about just turning around and finding something farther down IH 10 but we kept coming and finally reached the park which is nice with a good view of the lake.

We had been told by a tech at Cody's vet that she was raised in Alabama and always enjoyed coming over to Destin to the beautiful beaches. Looking at Streets & Trips, we realized that is was about an hour drive over to Destin, so we loaded into "Big Red" and headed to the beach.

When making plans for this trip and looking for places to stay, we had tried to get reservations at Topsail Hill State Park but even in December, they already were booked up and nothing available. This park was on the way to Destin, so we took a slight side trip and drove through the park. The "Gold Award" for best state park in America is deserved; landscaping immaculate, clean, lots of spaces. Definitely will be on our short list if back in this area again. Sorry did not take any pictures.

Destination Destin was reached and Kim at the vet was right, gorgeous and very clean. We have never been "beach people" but had we had these kind of beaches in Texas and not the likes of "Galveston Beaches" we just might have a little more "saltyness" to us at this age!!

Enjoy the road that lies ahead of you and may each day find you doing what you enjoy with people you enjoy. Till later.......
