Janette at Ft Benton

cottonwood snow

We headed out for Ft. Benton, MT this morning. We spent most of the day exploring Ft. Benton, the fort, the town and the museum. We visited the BLM center at the other end of town too. Cottonwood was in full regalia, I even tried to capture it on film!

The gentleman that gave us the tour of the old fort was wonderful to listen to. He was a sixth grade teacher and very knowledgeable about the Fort and the events that occurred there. At the end of the tour, he sang for us. They were some old songs, and one that he wrote himself. He was very entertaining and fun.

We headed out late in the afternoon for St. Mary's also in Montana and part of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. It is at the east gate to Glacier Park. We have limited internet access, but the park is really nice. We are sitting up on a bluff with a view of Glacier Park and the surrounding area. We had to stay awake until well after 11p.m. to watch the fireworks. It was Canada Day, apparently there are lots of Canadians living on the US side of the border, so they have their own celebration. Oddly enough, we will be in Canada for the 4th of July.
