30th and 31st- Wellington and then moving onto WaitomoMay 30, 2005

| We woke at 12.00 and sorted a few of our bits and bobs out such as washing and the like. I spent 2 hours searching electronic store for a cable I had lost for my camera. After 7 or 8 shops I found one but they wanted to charge me $50, so in the end I bough a media reader for the same price which included the USB and will also read lots of other media cards, so I think I'll get the use out of it! Me and Ruth decided that we would stay another night in Wellington and go out, before travelling un the east coast of the Island. We chilled out for the evening and got some sleep. 31st We left Wellington and made the 6 hour journey to Waitomo, the photo is of some wild mountain goats we found on the road. I stopped to take a photo and Mummy and baby scuttled off into the bush. I heard a rustle across the road behind me was Daddy goat with massive horns. I ran back so fast to the car I thought he was going to butt me! We where really tired when we got to the YHA so settled in, went down the local for one and then back for some TV. We got chatting to a couple of Scottish lads in the TV room after our programs ha finished, they were both 24/25 and were very interesting except one had a real passion for good alcohol, and the stories he had about different brands and beginnings were great but I think it grated Ruth a little as he did go on, but after we moved on from that a talked about different travelling stories it was good. Before we knew it, it was past 1am! I also had had a trauma in the kitchen earlier on as reception had failed to mention that they should give us our own plated and cutlery etc. So stupid me, goes and cooks my soup for dinner, (reception was shut) and had to eat it with kitchen utensils! Funny sight, thank god there's no pictures! |
